Wisconsin's 2018 in-state class doesn't feature a four-star prospect, but the group is extremely deep with over 19 Division 1 commitments as of July 3.
As we count down the days before the start of the 2017 high school football season, BadgerBlitz.com ranks the top seniors in the state, continuing with prospects 31 through 35.
No. 35 - Offensive lineman Zach Mueller
Committed to: Illinois State
The word: Michigan State, Iowa and Wisconsin, among others, all showed interest this spring and summer, but Zach Mueller decided to end his recruitment early when he committed to Illinois State last month. This spring, the 6-foot-5, 286-pound lineman finished fifth in both the discus and shot put at the state track and field meet.
No. 34 - Safety Kadon Kauppinen
Committed to: North Dakota
The word: Kadon Kauppinen, who blazed a 4.5-second 40-yard dash at the WFCA Combine this off-season, committed to North Dakota last month. At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, he'll bring excellent size to the safety position for the Fighting Hawks.
No. 33 - Quarterback Nate Carter
Interest from: Iowa, Wyoming, Ball State, North Dakota State, Central Michigan, Western Illinois and Wisconsin
The word: In a run-heavy offense, Waunakee quarterback Nate Carter passed for over 1,500 yards and 11 touchdowns last fall. The all-conference performer is still looking for his first offer but has been in contact with a handful of schools this offseason. The Badgers could be in a position to extend a preferred walk-on offer to the 6-foot-5, 195-pound senior.
No. 32 - Wide receiver Isaiah Westfall
Interest from: Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Western Michigan, North Dakota State and Wisconsin
The word: A WFCA all-state honorable mention pick in 2016, Isaiah Westfall, who has visited Wisconsin no less than three times, is hearing from a number of Big Ten schools. He hauled in 42 passes for 800 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior.
No. 31 - Running back Javian Dayne
Interest from: Iowa, N.C. State, Wisconsin, Indiana State, Ball State and North Dakota State, among others
The word: Javian Dayne, a 6-foot and 225-pound tailback who rushed for 1,584 yards and 19 touchdowns a year ago, is still in search of his first scholarship. A number of schools, including Wisconsin and N.C. State, are keeping close tabs on the bruising back.
“I really liked N.C. State’s facilities. I like how they ran things,” Dayne told BadgerBlitz.com. “That was probably the one that stood out the most just because it was like a different scene. I am from the Midwest and that was the first Southern school I have been to.
“One or two of the people that work on their staff are actually former Badger players. Eddie Faulkner, my dad played with him. We grew up with him, it just felt like at home.”
