MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Badgers moved up to No. 5 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday night, jumping up three spots from No. 8 last week after their win over No. 20 Iowa.

Alabama moved up to No. 1 in the rankings after Georgia's loss to now-No. 6 Auburn last week, with Clemson moving up to No. 2 and Miami moving to No. 3. Oklahoma moved up one spot to No. 4, rounding out the current playoff picture.

But moving up to No. 5 is good news for the Badgers, who now appear to control their own destiny when it comes to making the playoff. With Clemson and Miami slated to play each other in the ACC Championship Game, there's at least one guaranteed loss already in the committee's current top four - giving the Badgers a chance to move up in to the Top 4 if they run the table.

The Badgers also got a bit of help in that Northwestern is ranked No. 23, and Michigan is ranked No. 24 - giving the Badgers a chance to notch another Top 25 win if they defeat the Wolverines this weekend. Ohio State also moved up to No. 9 after their win over Michigan State, giving the Badgers a shot at a Top-10 win if they were to play and beat the Buckeyes in the Big Ten Championship Game.
