Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard hit on what could be argued was his top recruiting target in the 2017 class since permanently taking over as head coach in March.

Wednesday, during an unofficial visit to Madison, junior Nathan Reuvers committed to the Badgers. The 6-foot-10, 200-pound power forward from Lakeville North High School in Minnesota chose UW over offers from Clemson, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Northwestern and Creighton, among others. Stanford, Oregon and Notre Dame were also showing strong interest.

Reuvers, the second member of Wisconsin's 2017 class along with in-state guard Kobe King, picked up an offer from Gard in early March. Since then, his scholarship list exploded while playing for D1 Minnesota on the AAU circuit this spring.

With Reuvers and King in the mix, the Badgers will likely turn their attention to guard where Parker Stewart, who could play either spot in the backcourt, is the top target. Uncommitted forwards Justin Smith and Kyle Young also have offers from UW, which now has two more remaining scholarships in the 2017 class.

As a junior, Reuvers, who averaged close to 20 points and eight rebounds per game, helped North to the Minnesota Class 4A title game.
