Wisconsin's athletic department released a "10 things to know for spring football practice" article Monday morning in preparation for Tuesday's first practice. With that, BadgerBlitz.com takes a deeper dive into our new information.

"Not a surprise, but after sharing time atop the depth chart last season, sophomore Alex Hornibrook enters spring practice as UW's starting quarterback."

This seems similar to what Paul Chryst did with Joel Stave prior to the start of his senior season. By naming Alex Hornibrook the starting quarterback, it takes some pressure of his shoulders and shows the staff's confidence in the redshirt freshman, who started nine games in 2016. That said, what other options did Chryst have? The only other scholarship quarterbacks on the roster are Kare' Lyles and Jack Coan, neither of whom have taken a college rep.

This is also another indication that the "Malik Zaire transfer to Wisconsin" possibility has long passed. The Badgers are set to move forward with Hornibrook, though I still think Coan, a former four-star prospect, has the potential to make it interesting this fall.

"(David) Edwards, up to 306 pounds, is now the projected starter at left tackle, taking over for Ryan Ramczyk who bypassed his senior year to turn pro."
