The Wisconsin Badgers added three-star cornerback Donte Burton to their 2018 recruiting class Thursday. Here's what Burton's commitment means for head coach Paul Chryst moving forward.

Skillset

Donte Burton, the nation's No. 68 cornerback, should bring speed and toughness to Wisconsin's cornerback group. At 5-foot-11 and 173 pounds, the three-star prospect from Georgia has been clocked as low as 4.6 seconds in the 4o-yard dash and is a four-year starter for head coach Mike Humphrey at Loganville High School.

"The summer before his ninth grade year when Donte was here, we saw that he was going to be a special talent," Humphrey told Rivals.com. "He really caught our eye going into his freshman year and he started for us at corner that year. He's just improved since then. He's got extremely good closing speed and he's very aggressive to the ball."

Looking at his film, Burton attacks the football well in the air and has the closing speed Humphrey described. He also plays receiver at the high school level and is a playmaker on that side of the ball as well.

"I think he can improve on his strength - he needs to get a little bit stronger," Humphrey said. "But he's got the speed and all the other attributes to play defensive back."

Burton is probably quick enough to be a boundary cornerback for position coach Jim Leonhard, but his lateral speed could also allow him to work at nickel, if needed.
