Senior writer John Veldhuis outlines ten things to know before the Wisconsin Badgers head out on the road to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini on Saturday.
1. The Badgers have been road warriors under Paul Chryst.
Wisconsin head coach Paul Chryst has said (and will continue to say) that there isn't one big secret a team can use to go out and consistently win true road games, but the results speak for themselves. The Badgers are 10-1 (.909) in true road games and 13-3 (.813) away from home overall since 2015 when Chryst took over as the team's head coach, with their only loss in a true road game coming to Michigan in Ann Arbor last year.
Now, you could say that the Badgers haven't exactly played world-beaters on the road over the last few years - and you'd be right. But winning on the road - and doing it consistently - is not something a lot of teams would be able to do. It's not exactly common for the Badgers, either - they were 6-5 (.545) away from home under Gary Andersen from 2013-2014, including a 6-3 (.666) record in true road games.
