Quincy Burroughs didn't officially decide to transfer from Cincinnati until Jan. 5.

Mulling over whether or not to the portal, a visit to Madison was always in the back of his mind.

With former receivers coach Mike Brown and offensive coordinator Gino Guidugli now at Wisconsin under Luke Fickell, the potential fit interested Burroughs. The addition of Phil Longo as offensive coordinator also left a good amount of intrigue as to what the offense could look at UW. With all that in mind, Burroughs gave the Badgers a call.

"While I was still at Cincinnati, I always had a good relationship with them," Burroughs told BadgerBlitz.com. "I kind of figured if was to enter and the opportunity was there (I would try to visit) because I’ve seen their roster and depth chart at Wisconsin.

"As well as seeing the new hire with Coach Longo, I was like, 'OK, I can probably try this because he’s bringing in a spread offense and they didn’t have many receivers on the depth chart.' I was pretty sure I was going to be able to take (a spot). I went in knowing hopefully it would work out, so I called as soon as I went in and then other schools reached out, so that was kind of my thought process."
