WR Cade Green adds his name to Wisconsin's 2017 class

Wisconsin picked up its second commit of the day when junior wide receiver Cade Green pledged to the Badgers on Thursday.

"Yes, I committed," Green confirmed to BadgerBlitz.com. "Getting up here and seeing the campus, touring the facilities, watching the practice and talking to the coaches, I really thought it was right place. I thought about it during the week with what I might do, but definitely being here was enough for me."

A 6-foot, 176-pound prospect, Green, who was recruited by position coach Ted Gilmore, is the seventh member of UW's 2017 class and the first receiver. He chose Wisconsin over scholarships from Illinois, Bowling Green, North Texas and Texas State, among others.

"Coach (Ted) Gilmore really just wanted me to be myself during the visit and they wanted to see if I was a good fit for them," Green, from Lake Travis High School in Texas, said. "I had a really good time with them and I thought all the coaches were awesome.

"Coach (Paul) Chryst was surprised when I told him about the commitment but he was really excited. He told all the other other coaches and they were all happy."

Green had 72 receptions for 1,387 yards and 16 touchdowns last fall and is expected to play the "z" position at Wisconsin.

"They see me playing their 'z' position as an inside and outside receiver," Green said. "I'll play there and then on special teams, but I just want to contribute anywhere that I can."

The Badgers are expected to sign two receivers in the current cycle.

"I'm all wrapped up and won't take any more visits," Green said. "It feels really good to be able to focus on my senior season and making sure I finish things off on a good note in high school."
