Last May, the Collegiate Commissioners Association approved an early signing period for football that allows prospects to sign with Division 1 programs in late December.
With the new rule in place, prospects in the 2018 class will be the first recruits to experience the early signing period, though they can still wait until the traditional signing day in February.
Early Period for Division 1: Dec. 20, 2017 (Initial Signing Date) - Dec. 22, 2017 (Final Signing Date).
Regular Period: Feb. 7, 2018 through April 1, 2018.
With the early period less than two months away, BadgerBlitz.com reached out to all 19 members of Wisconsin's 2018 class to find out when they planned to sign with UW.
The Early Enrollees
Wisconsin is expected to have five early enrollees on campus for spring classes in January. By taking part in spring camp, those five could set themselves up for early playing time in Madison.
*Three-star receiver Taj Mustapha: "Taj plans on early enrollment if everything works out academically," Mustapha's father told BadgerBlitz.com. "So, yes, he's signing in December and will be on campus in January. Our official visit is scheduled for December as well and we are also planning to be at the Michigan game, but that will depend on if his high school team is still in the playoffs."
*Three-star defensive tackle Bryson Williams, who could be relied on to contribute as a true freshman: "I'm signing as early as I can because I'm leaving early."
*Three-star safety Reggie Pearson, Wisconsin's first pledge in the 2018 class: "I'm signing in December, without a doubt. I'll be on campus in January ready to learn. I'm already accepted in and I can't wait."
*Three-star cornerback Donte Burton, the Badgers' most recent pledge in this class: "Late December, for sure."
*Three-star athlete Aron Cruickshank, who could help Wisconsin immediately on special teams, also confirmed he'll sign and enroll early.
