After he picked up an offer from Wisconsin on Saturday during an unofficial visit, it was likely just a matter of time before Julius Davis provided his commitment to the Badgers.

That proved to be true Monday evening when the in-state running back alerted head coach Paul Chryst of his decision to join UW's 2019 recruiting class.

"The atmosphere here and fans were exhilarating," Davis told BadgerBlitz.com. "I grew up watching the Badgers and became a fan quickly. Being from Wisconsin, my dream has been to play for the Badgers in college like most children when they are young. I have been given the chance to live out my dreams.

"I love the coaches - they truly do care about you and want the best. Madison also has top-notch education, which is very important to me."

Davis, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound junior from Menomonee Falls High School, rushed for 1,762 yards and 17 touchdowns this fall. He chose Wisconsin over a scholarship offer from Buffalo and strong interest from Iowa, Iowa State, Indiana, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois and South Dakota State, among others.

"It’s a big commitment that I'm excited and prepared for," Davis, an honorable mention WFCA all-state selection, said. "I need to focus on getting bigger and faster and keep doing the right things in the classroom and community.

"It feels good to know that there are high expectations since some of the best have came out of Wisconsin like Melvin Gordon and Ron Dayne."

Davis, who reported a 4.6-second 40-yard dash time, joins quarterback Graham Mertz, offensive tackle Logan Brown and linebacker Leo Chenal in the Badgers' 2019 class.

"The coaches are excited to get me down for the junior days and excited to have me in their program," Davis said. "They welcomed me to the family and said I made their night."
