Wisconsin lands Oklahoma State wide receiver transfer Bryson Green

Offensive coordinator Phil Longo helped Wisconsin completely revamp its quarterback room this winter via the transfer portal.

Assistant coach Mike Brown has now done the same at wide receiver. After they landed Will Pauling (Cincinnati), Quincy Burroughs (Cincinnati) and CJ Williams (USC) earlier this week, the Badgers secured a commitment from former Oklahoma State wide out Bryson Green on Friday.

Ole Miss and Auburn, among others schools, also pursued Green while he was in the portal.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound sophomore played in 23 games during his two seasons with the Cowboys. Green made six starts as a true freshman and recorded 12 catches for 139 yards. This fall, the former three-star prospect was second on the team in receiving yards (584 yards) and first in touchdown receptions (5).

Coming out of Allen High School in Texas, Green was rated as the No. 64 wide receiver in the country. He chose the Cowboys over Auburn, Baylor, Colorado, Duke, Michigan State, Minnesota, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina and TCU, among others. Longo served as his lead contact from Mississippi State.

Green joins a receiver room that returns Chimere Dike (656 snaps in 2022), Skyler Bell (608), Keontez Lewis (409) and Dean Engram (108).

“There will be much more involvement with the receivers that are here," offensive coordinator Phil Longo at his most recent availability. "They’ll be given an opportunity to do more just because of the nature of the offense, and I think it will help us recruit guys at the quarterback position, at the tight end position that maybe are a little bit closer to being a hybrid-type tight end. And it will help us recruit receivers because those guys want to do what we do in the offense.

"That’s the way it’s been just about everywhere and I wouldn’t expect it to be any different here. The product that is Wisconsin football is still the same great product. All we’re doing is adding something that might entice them to want to come here and run a route or two.”

Green, who has two years of eligibility remaining, is the 13th scholarship commitment Fickell has landed via the portal this winter.
