Wisconsin finds second QB in the 2018 class in three-star Chase Wolf

Wisconsin is now all set at quarterback in the 2018 class.

Friday evening, Chase Wolf announced his commitment to the Badgers. The three-star prospect from St. Xavier's High School in Ohio, who visited Madison unofficially late last month, joins Ben Bryant as QB pledges in the current cycle for UW.

"The visit to Wisconsin was everything that I wanted," Wolf told BadgerBlitz.com. "The people, the education, the football - I was just very comfortable there and it felt like home to me.

"I pretty much knew it was going to be Wisconsin about a week ago and I decided to announce tonight. It feels great to have made this decision."

Wolf, who passed for over 1,200 passing yards and 15 touchdowns during the 2016 season, picked Wisconsin over offers from South Carolina, Boston College, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh, among others. The Badgers, led by staff member Jon Budmayr, offered last November.

"It wasn't the deciding factor, but it was a pretty big deal for me that Wisconsin offered so early and showed faith in me," Wolf, who had no less than 17 offers, said. "Knowing that all these other schools had confidence in me was great, too, but Wisconsin saw something on my film before the others. I really appreciated that.

"Coach Budmayr was extremely happy when I committed and he said I made his month. My relationship with him is very good. He said he talks about me to his wife, so I know he likes me a lot. I have a great relationship with him and coach (Paul) Chryst and that was big for me."

A 6-foot-2, 193-pound prospect, Wolf backed up Rivals250 selection and Penn State signee Sean Clifford last fall. He's set to take over the quarterback reigns full time in 2017.

"Wisconsin said I'm a really good competitor," Wolf, commit No. 9 in the 2018 class, said. "They saw that when I battled a Penn State commit (Clifford) every day in practice last year and I didn't give up. They think I'm a great fit."

Wolf, who was receiving late interest from SEC programs Florida, Kentucky and Tennessee, among other schools, said he's set on his decision to play for the Badgers.

"My recruitment is completely shut down," he said. "It's only Wisconsin."
