Over the next two weeks, BadgerBlitz.com will be bringing you snapshots for each recruited position, covering the targets who are legitimate prospects on Wisconsin's board in the 2023 class. We will discuss the candidates who are most interested in the Badgers, as well as those who are considered long shots to commit to UW.

As always, this is just a snapshot in time and things remain fluid. Additional offered targets will appear over the next few months and some recruits will inevitably choose other colleges.

Today, we start with a look at the quarterbacks.

QUICK BREAKDOWN

Wisconsin is expected to have four scholarship quarterbacks on the spring roster, though that number could grow to five if reserve Danny Vanden Boom elects to return for a six season. Looking at the room, Graham Mertz will enter spring camp with two years of starting experience under his belt. His play, however, has not matched the hype garnered during a highly-publicized prep career.

Because 2022 signee Myles Burkett, who will enroll early for spring camp, committed to the Badgers last January, it allowed staff member Bob Dunn and head coach Paul Chryst to focus on the 2023 class for much of the year. At this point, however, just two offers have been extended in the junior cycle.

This offseason, it will be interesting to see if Wisconsin 1) Looks for a proven veteran in the transfer portal to provide competition for Mertz and 2) Adds a quarterback/offensive coordinator, a move that would require Chryst to shake up his current staff.
