MADISON - Shortly after his team knocked off then No. 1 ranked and unbeaten Ohio State inside a raucous Kohl Center, Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan said Jordan Taylor nearly read every situation perfectly.

During his Monday press conference, Ryan didn't alter his stance too much.
"Jordan probably has a better feel than most as to making sure he had a good shot," Ryan said after making a reference to a drill his team would run that essentially simulates late shot clock situations. "There was one time in this last time that he didn't and I have it edited out. When we do our clips (today) he'll see why. He ended up making a poor decision. But that's what we're here for.
"There are certain things you can't teach somebody. They've got to have that court awareness."
Having backed up former Badger Trevon Hughes for two years earlier in his career, particularly last year as a sophomore, Taylor was able to pick up on some things his predecessor would do.
Some of those movements, cuts, reads and abilities are starting to shine through.
"I think last year that really helped him when he wasn't the so called primary guy taking care of the ball," Ryan said. "To get those repetitions with the shot clock at 15, he learned quite a bit from that.
"He's putting that to good use this year."
THE NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT:
If Bo Ryan, his coaching staff and his players received a dime for every time they would mention not getting too high after a win or too low following a loss over the years, the UW basketball program would probably be a Fortune 500 company. Profits would be at an all-time high.
It's just how this team operates.
So, even after beating No. 1 and previously unbeaten Ohio State Saturday afternoon, and receiving all the attention it has over the past 48 hours on a national scale, there is no worry from the head coach that this team is getting a boost to the ego.
"They know our routine," Ryan said. "They lifted this morning. Scott Hettenbach (strength and conditioning coach) had them and he didn't care what happened Saturday when he was putting them through the workout. When we sit down and look at the video I've got about 20 some clips. They'll know it's what we've always done."
It's not like this squad hasn't been a part of some big wins over their respective careers in Madison. Last year the Badgers knocked off eventual national champion Duke during the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, effectively sowing up the Big Ten's first win in the event.
They've knocked off Purdue, a top 15 team at home this season. They've knocked off ranked teams in Minnesota and Illinois at various junctures, too.
"We're not a 5-20 team that just won on Saturday," Ryan said. "These guys have been in some situations where they understand what the moment is about. I think they'll be fine. When I say fine, we're playing Purdue and Purdue is a team that just beat Illinois at Illinois and looked really good doing it.
"It's on to the next one."
NOTHING TO TWEET HERE:
Following the game, Ohio State Jared Sullinger made it clear he wasn't too happy with the rowdy students that joined the Badgers at center court to celebrate one of the biggest wins of the college basketball season.
The freshman All-Everything claimed he was spit on during the melee and that it didn't sit well with him. Because it's difficult to pinpoint an exact moment where such a thing could have occurred, one has to take him for his word.
When asked about it Monday afternoon, Ryan effectively and smartly took the high road.
"All I know is we have the greatest student body in the world," Ryan said. "I know a lot of campuses would love to have the enthusiasm that we have here for our college teams and our support. It's all good stuff. I'm standing here as somebody who is standing here saying we've got the best students in the world.
"That's all I know. I don't know anything about the others."
TIP INS:
-Following his 16-point, eight-assist effort at Iowa earlier in the week and his 27-point, seven-assist performance against Ohio State, Taylor received his first-ever Big Ten player of the week award. Senior Jon Leuer has won the award twice this season. The last time UW had three or more Player of the Week awards in the same season came when Alando Tucker and Kammron Taylor did so during the 2006-07 year.
-With wins over unranked Iowa and previously No. 1 ranked Ohio State, Wisconsin jumped into the top 10 for the first time this season. UW currently sits in a tie for second place with No. 11 Purdue. The two square of Wednesday night inside Mackey Arena. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. (ct) on the Big Ten Network.
QUOTABLE:
Ryan on what he saw out of Josh Gasser while on the recruiting trail
"I saw him for five minutes. He hit a three, drove and got fouled, he stopped on a dime, hit a jump shot and stole a ball on the other end. As he stole the ball from the other end he was driving to the basket. I was 10 feet from him when he sprained his ankle. Having had that happened I knew what he felt. He tried to get up, but you could see he went flush and he was done. But what I saw was how tough he was. That's why some of the guys that I've coached say, 'Hey, he's your kind of guy."
