Stat pack: AP Poll

MADISON, Wis. - The latest Associated Press Top 25 poll slated the Wisconsin men's basketball team at the No. 4 team in the in the country. While most are aware of the Badgers' hot start to the season, as evidenced by their 10-0 record, let's take a look at the AP poll as a whole.

-- The Big Ten has three teams (Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State) in the top-5. The Pac-12, ACC, AAC, and SEC each have three teams in the entire poll. The Big East has just one (Villanova).
-- Arizona (9-0), Syracuse (9-0), and Ohio State (8-0) are ahead of Wisconsin in the poll, but it is the Badgers that have the best RPI of the group. The Wildcats (11), Orangemen (5), and Buckeyes (23) all have RPIs less than the Badgers (3).
-- This is the first time the Badgers have been ranked inside the top-5 of the AP poll since being No. 3 the week of March 5-11, 2007.
-- Wisconsin is the only team in the poll with 10 wins.
-- Arizona received 63 of the 65 first-place votes.
-- Michigan St., now No. 5, had the No. 1 ranking for three-weeks before losing to North Carolina 79-65 at home. This was the longest stay at No. 1 for Michigan St. as the previous two times the Spartans reached No. 1 in the poll (1978-79, 2000-01) they did so for just two weeks.
-- The Michigan Wolverines (6-3) fell from 22nd to out of the polls after losing 79-69 to Duke this week. Michigan had been ranked for the past 44 weeks dating back to the preseason poll of 2011-12, the sixth longest streak in the nation.
-- Iowa (9-1) received the No. 23 ranking to keep the Big Ten at pace with the Big 12 as both teams now have four schools represented in the top-25.
-- Three games between ranked teams will take place this week. On Tuesday, No. 13 Kansas travels to play No. 19 Florida. On Friday, No. 23 Iowa visits No. 17 Iowa State. On Saturday, No. 11 Kentucky takes on No. 18 North Carolina.
