PODCAST: Ep.114: Badgers Commit Ayo Adebogun Handling the COVID Curveballs

Mequon Homestead defensive end Ayo Adebogun remembers very little contact from the University of Wisconsin coaching staff, only that the Badgers were gracious enough to invite him to a game with his dad.

Little did they know, the Badgers’ staff had an ulterior motive

“At that game, I got a scholarship,” Adebogun said. “Before then, I had no contact with them. They weren’t even one of the schools that was looking.”

The scholarship coming out of the blue last September is still a shock to Adebogun, who committed to the Badgers last December following a junior season in which he had 75 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 16 sacks and three forced fumbles.

A lot has changed for the three-star prospect since then. While he’s worked on emerging as a leader within his high school program, the coronavirus pandemic has shutdown workouts and normal at-school learning, his school’s head coach – Dave Keel – announced his retirement, the Wisconsin fall high school football season has been canceled (pushed back to the spring) and a scholarship from Michigan State has landed on Adebogun’s desk.

How has Adebogun handled the bumps in the road? What was the real reason he waited three months to commit to the Badgers after the scholarship offer? Are the Spartans pushing him to take a closer look at their school?

Adebogun joins the BadgerBlitz.com podcast to answer those questions and more in this week’s show, which also breaks down the latest commit in Wisconsin’s 2021 class and updates the latest news in Big Ten football.
