J.R. Zwierzynski Says Hes Down to Four Schools

J.R. Zwierzynski, the 6-3, 220-pound linebacker from Joliet (Ill.) Catholic, says his decision is down to four schools, and he will make his decision sometime in late January.
“I’d say it’s down to four,” Zwierzynski said. “I’ve been to Penn State and Wisconsin, and I’m going to Northwestern (Jan. 11) and Notre Dame (Jan. 18).”

Zwierzynski said his opinion of Wisconsin has increased considerably in the last month, after in-home visits from Coach Barry Alvarez and Kevin Cosgrove, followed by his official visit to Wisconsin.
“I had a great time on my visit. (Bob Docherty) was my host,” Zwierzynski said. “I was real impressed with their strength coach. He’s really got a grip on things like that…It looks like I’m going to play linebacker, but (the UW coaches) told me I’d have a chance to play running back if that’s what I wanted to do. They’re just really interested in me coming up there.”
Zwierzynski said his decision will come down primarily to academics, and Wisconsin is improving its standing in that category.
“They are a lot better than I initially thought they were,” Zwierzynski said. “They have a lot of good things going for them…it’s going to come down to how good each school is academically, and how good I see myself doing in the future with a degree from that school.”
