With a recruiting eye on the future, BadgerBlitz.com takes a look at 18 juniors in the 2018 in-state class to keep an eye.
The following are listed in no particular order; any stats used are courtesy of wissports.net.
No. 1: Catholic Memorial linebacker CJ Goetz
Offer: Northern Illinois; interest from Wisconsin, Iowa State, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Syracuse
Cliff notes: An all-state performer in 2016, CJ Goetz led Catholic Memorial to an undefeated season and Division 3 state title as a junior. Wisconsin is showing very strong interest and it wouldn't be surprising to see the Badgers offer at some point in 2017.
2016 Stats: 103 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, six sacks and one interception
No. 2: Brookfield Central linebacker Reggie Jennings
Offers: Wisconsin and Syracuse
Cliff notes: Reggie Jennings was the first in-state junior to receive an offer from Wisconsin prior the start of the 2016 season. Syracuse has since entered the race, but it's expected that the Badgers secure his commitment at some point during Jennings' recruitment.
2016 stats: 73 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss and six sacks
No. 3: Menasha safety Trent Ingalls
Committed to: Wisconsin
Cliff notes: After picking up an offer from position coach Jim Leonhard after his camp performance this summer, Trent Ingalls, an all-state performer, committed to the Badgers this fall.
2016 stats: 73 total tackles, three interceptions
No. 4: Homestead linebacker Mike Bruner
Committed to: Iowa
Cliff notes: Homestead outside linebacker Mike Bruner was the first prospect in the 2018 in-state class to make a commitment when the pledged to the Hawkeyes this fall.
2016 stats: 29 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and three sacks
