Florida safety Andrew Hallman on Wisconsin's radar after visit

Wisconsin is pretty well set at safety in the 2018 class with commitments from three-star prospects Reggie Pearson and Trent Ingalls.

But Jim Leonhard's defensive staff is still evaluating a number of players, a list that includes Andrew Hallman, who was in Madison for a spring practice in late March.

"My visit to Wisconsin was awesome," Hallman told BadgerBlitz.com. "I got to watch two practices and one was a full-speed scrimmage, so I got a gist of how a full-contact practice would be like.

"Coach (Paul) Meunier showed my dad and I around every facility that football uses. I got to talk to some players I know from South Florida, too. The campus is amazing."

As a junior, Hallman, from Archbishop McCarthy in Florida, recorded 81 tackles, one interception and nine passes deflections.

"Wisconsin's defensive backs coach (Leonhard) said I pass the eye test to play free safety, I just need to get faster," Hallman said. "If they offered me, I would probably commit right then and there.

"I liked how Wisconsin takes care of their athletes. They really do provide the best environment for them to be in, academically and sports-wise."

In addition to UW, Hallman is hearing from Princeton, Columbia, Brown, Yale, Kentucky, Harvard, Illinois and Purdue.

"I'm visiting Princeton at the end of the month," said Hallman, who carriers at 3.3 GPA with a 26 on his ACT. "Most of the Ivy League schools just want me to get my test scores a little bit higher."
