Over the next two weeks, BadgerBlitz.com will be bringing you snapshots for each recruited position, covering the targets who are legitimate prospects on Wisconsin's board in the 2019 class. We will discuss the candidates who are most interested in the Badgers, as well as those who are considered long shots to commit to UW.
As always, this is just a snapshot in time and things remain fluid. Additional offered targets will appear over the next few months and some recruits will inevitably choose other colleges.
Today, we take a look at the quarterbacks.
Quick Breakdown
Wisconsin will open fall camp with four scholarship quarterbacks on the roster: Redshirt sophomore Alex Hornibrook, redshirt freshman freshman Kare' Lyles and true freshmen Jack Coan and Danny Vanden Boom. With 2018 commit Chase Wolf arriving next summer, Paul Chryst and Jon Budmayr will likely be able to sign one scholarship quarterback in each cycle moving forward, a desired scenario when recruiting the position.
Like in past classes, Wisconsin has been very selective with offers at the position in 2019. At this point, just three quarterbacks hold a scholarship from the Badgers but two have already committed to other schools - Grant Gunnell to Texas A&M and Cade McNamara to Notre Dame - while the other, five-star JT Daniels, is currently favoring Stanford, USC and Michigan. The coaching staff will almost certainly have to extend the next wave of offers this fall or winter.
