The Wisconsin Badgers added three-star cornerback Travian Blaylock to their 2018 recruiting class Thursday. Here's what Blaylock's commitment means for head coach Paul Chryst moving forward.
Skillset
The first play on Travian Blaylock's junior film shows him form tackling a running back in the flat. As it progress, there's more proof that the three-star prospect is a willing and skilled tackler - he racked up 85 last fall.
At 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, Blaylock also brings excellent size to the cornerback position. He placed second in the triple jump (49-7¼) at the Texas 6A state championships May 13, so the agility and athleticism is there as well. During Wisconsin's camp in June, Blaylock also looked to have great hips and was very fluid during individual work with coordinator Jim Leonhard. According a source, the senior also ran a 4.45-second 40-yard dash (hand timed) at Oklahoma State's camp this summer.
Finally, he also has excellent DNA, as his father, Derrick Blaylock, was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets from 2001-2007.
