Coach: "Competitiveness, physicality" among strengths of LB Jake Ratzlaff
With a hockey scholarship already in hand from the Gophers, Rosemount (MN) head coach Jeff Erdmann knew going into Jake Ratzlaff's freshman year that the young player was "kind of an elite guy."
Now wrapping up his prep career, the 2021 Wisconsin commit certainly made an impact during his time on the field for the Irish. Just check his statistics and accolades as he departs the program.
Among the impressive list Erdmann sent BadgerBlitz.com earlier this week, Ratzlaff -- the latest commit in UW's 2021 recruiting class -- led the undefeated 6A program this season in tackles (70), interceptions (three) and defensive touchdowns, in addition to tallying 5.5 tackles for loss and three sacks.
Wait, there's more. The two-time captain also ranked first on the team in receptions (10), receiving yards (209) and touchdown catches (three). He also blocked three punts.
During his time at Rosemount, which included three years as a varsity starter, the three-star prospect accumulated 261.5 tackles, 28.5 TFLs and 10.5 sacks, 33 total receptions, blocked five kicks (including two field goal attempts) and 11 total touchdowns.
Again, wait. There's more.
