Position coach Ted Gilmore made Quintez Cephus his top priority and first recruiting stop during Wisconsin's bye week.

Friday, Gilmore's hard work paid off as Cephus, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound wide receiver from Statford Academy High School in Georgia, committed to the Badgers.
"The opportunity I have to develop as a receiver and play under coach Gilmore, I really believe that's the best situation for me," Cephus told BadgerBlitz.com. "I really trust and believe in coach Gilmore and he was a big part in my commitment.
"When I told the coaches today they said I made their day, and I told them they did the same for me. This is my final decision and I'm definitely going to be a Badger."
Cephus is commit No. 21 for UW in the 2016 class and the third expected receiver, along with A.J. Taylor and Kendric Pryor.
"Coach Gilmore coming down right away this week was huge for me," Cephus, a former Furman basketball commit, said. "Just showing me how much I meant and putting that trust in me was big.
"I think I'm the last receiver and I was the guy coach Gilmore really wanted. I'm really thankful and blessed for that. I'm ready to work hard and compete in order to do my part."
Wisconsin will lose four scholarship receivers -- Alex Erickson, Tanner McEvoy, A.J. Jordan and Jordan Fredrick -- at the end of the 2015 season. With that, Cephus feels he'll have a chance to compete for time right away.
"Coach Gilmore really thinks I can come in play right away," Cephus said. "They have a lot of guys leaving and he sees me coming in and being one of the guys to make an impact. I just want to go in and do what I need to do in order to get on the field."
Cephus visited Madison officially in November and was hosted by fellow Georgia native Krenwick Sanders. He also received interest from Georgia Tech, among other schools.
"I'm excited to play with those guys up there," Cephus said. "The receivers are a great group and I'm looking forward to playing with them and coach Gilmore."
