CB Travian Blaylock snatches UW's last scholarship in 2018 class

Wisconsin's impressive recruiting run - 11 commitments in roughly the last two months - ended with a bang Thursday evening.

Travian Blaylock, who will very likely be the final piece in the Badgers' 2018 class, pledged to head coach Paul Chryst. A 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback from Atascocita High School in Texas, Blaylock chose UW over an offer from Stanford, among others.

A three-star senior, Blaylock, who had 85 tackles as a junior, is commit No. 19 for UW in the current cycle. He will join Alex Smith as projected corners for defensive coordinator and position coach Jim Leonhard.

Blaylock, who placed second in the triple jump (49-7¼) at the Texas state meet in May, and his parents were in Madison last month to visit the campus and take part in UW's summer camp.

"The visit was amazing," Blaylock, whose father, Derrick Blaylock, was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets from 2001-2007, told BadgerBlitz.com in a previous interview. "I got to really visit and be around the coaching staff a lot and see what they are really about. Coach Leonhard is a really good coach that has a lot of experience and can teach me a bunch of things to better my game. We got to see the whole facility and a lot of the campus and I enjoyed it. Me and my parents got to walk around the Capitol building and surrounding areas and we really liked the atmosphere.

"My parents love the place. I think we all felt a special feeling there. They like the atmosphere but most of all they love the coaches. The coaches kept it real with us and they loved that about them. No secrets, no over exaggerations. They just told us what Wisconsin football was all about and that was great."

Blaylock also had offers from Army, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Memphis, Navy and Washington State, among others.
