Wisconsin has been showing interest in Brady Schipper since the start of his junior year at nearby Stoughton High School.
And after the completion of his senior season, the 2018 running back was offered and accepted a preferred walk-on offer from the Badgers.
"After our season, Coach (Chris) Haering called me and told me that they were going to be offering me a preferred walk-on opportunity," Schipper told BadgerBlitz.com. "The coaches are great. Every time I've had the chance to visit and talk with them, it's felt like a place where I wanted to be.
"It's a place where they want you to succeed on and off the field and I can't wait to be a part of that."
A 6-foot, 175-pound prospect, Schipper, who rushed for 1,975 yards and 25 touchdowns this fall, is expected to begin at tailback for the Badgers.
"It's running back to start, but they said that can always change," said Schipper, who is teammates with 2020 Wisconsin commit Jack Nelson. "They think I'll be able to give them something at the running back spot and that I'll work hard to get on the field."
Like many walk-ons who have committed to head coach Paul Chryst, Schipper turned down scholarship money in order to play for UW.
"I had a scholarship offer at South Dakota and it really came down to them and Wisconsin," Schipper said. "Minnesota-Duluth also had give me an opportunity to play baseball and football, which interested me.
"But it feels great to have made a decision and I'm excited for the next step at Wisconsin."
In addition to Schipper, Wisconsin also has preferred walk-on commitments in the 2018 class from Marty Strey (LB), John Chenal (LB/FB), Andrew Lyons (OL) and Jack Eschenbach (TE).
