"I'd like to thank the NIU coaching staff for their support and the way they brought me in as a family member to the Huskies," Ingold communicated on social media. "The entire community was very supportive from seniors down to freshmen as well as the 2015 class.
"It truly was a family atmosphere for the short time I was able to be a part of it. I wish the best of luck to all of the staff and players as they are well on their way to winning yet another MAC championship next year. I am unbelievably proud to say I was part of Huskie Nation. With all of that being said I am decommitting from Northern Illinois University."
A 6-foot-1, 215-pound athlete who played quarterback at Bay Port High School, Ingold is the 25th known commitment in Wisconsin's 2015 class. He is expected to play outside linebacker for the Badgers.
"It's pretty surreal and great to have an offer from Wisconsin," Ingold said. "I feel like it's a great accomplishment. A lot of hard work went into it."
Ingold was named the Gatorade State Player of the Year this fall after rushing for 2,324 yards and 29 touchdowns and going 87-of-142 through the air for 1,411 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Wisconsin currently has commitments from six linebackers in the current class, but Jordan Griffin and Dominic Sheppard took official visits to other schools this weekend. Nick Thomas is currently enrolled at UW while Ingold, Chris Orr and Zack Baun are solid in their pledge.
