After receiving positive feedback from the Wisconsin coaching staff during his visit last Thursday, Devin Blakley is planning to camp in Madison this summer in hopes of earning an offer from the Badgers.
"Wisconsin was a really great visit," Blakley told BadgerBlitz.com. "I got to watch their practice and see how they do things. It seemed like a way to figure out if the program is right for you. They showed me around the football facilities and talked about them. Then to end the visit I got to talk to some of the position coaches and have a one-on-one conversation.
"It seemed like they were impressed with my highlight tape from this previous season and also that I have a lot of potential. They want me to come camp with them this summer to show them how I move live and get hands-on coaching from them."
A 5-foot-9, 165-pound sophomore from Nazareth Academy in Illinois, Blakely had 70 carries for 440 yards and six touchdowns on offense to go along with 44 tackles on defense.
"I believe they (UW) like me at running back but they like that I'm versatile on both sides, so it's open to more options," Blakley said. "With Wisconsin, I'm feeling confident about them. I think If I have a great camp showing and do well this season, they'll probably tune in more."
Prior to his trip to UW, Blakley took an unofficial visit to Northwestern.
"Northwestern was great, too," said Blakely, who is also hearing from Princeton and Purdue early in the process. "I got to talk the running backs coach, who is also the recruiter for my area. I toured the campus and some of the facilities. They seemed to like my highlight tape and thought I was versatile as well. They want me to come camp with them this summer and come to a game this fall.
"I don't have any more visits planned that I know of. I will camp at Wisconsin, Northwestern, Iowa and some satellite camps like North Central and Lake Park this summer."
