Two Big Ten schools in early on 2020 OLB Riley Nowakowski

After he camped with Wisconsin this summer, junior Riley Nowakowski was back on campus earlier this fall when the Badgers hosted New Mexico.

A 6-foot-3, 220-pound projected outside linebacker from Marquette University High School, Nowakowski was one a handful of in-state prospects on campus that weekend.

"The visit went really well," Nowakowski told BadgerBlitz.com. "The facilities were very nice. I got to see the weight room, the locker room and I was able to go onto the field during warm-ups."

Nowakowski, who has 33 total tackles, five tackles for loss and one interception for the undefeated Hilltoppers this season, was able to talk with assistant coach Bobby April while in Madison.

"I was also able to talk to my position coach and a few outside backers," Nowakowski said. "They told me to keep working hard and being focused and they would be watching me.

"Both my parents went to school at Wisconsin and my sister just started her freshman year there, so we are pretty big Badgers fans."

Outside of UW, Nowakowski, who has run as low as 11.44 seconds in the 100-meter dash, has been in touch with one other Big Ten program.

"I visited Iowa for the Northern Iowa game on the 15th of September," Nowakowski said. "The feedback from Iowa has been about the same, just keep working hard and that they will be watching my tape.

"I haven’t been invited to any other games as of now for the rest of the fall."

In the 2020 class, the Badgers have commitments from in-state offensive tackles Trey Wedig and Jack Nelson.
