The 2016 Rick Majerus WBY Shootout will take place from Dec. 27-29 at Concordia University in Mequon. The event is traditionally a place where the Wisconsin coaching staff can be spotted during the holiday season.

Following is a UW-focused preview of the Shootout, which BadgerBlitz.com will cover on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Class of 2017

Team: La Crosse Central (5-0)

When to see King: Dec. 28 vs. Kaukauna (7:30 PM) | Dec. 29 vs. Pius XI Catholic (3:00 PM)

The word: Kobe King was part of a three-man signing class for Wisconsin last month that also included four-star seniors Brad Davison and Nathan Reuvers.

“Kobe was very, very important, because he committed and through the transition stayed there when I’m sure there were plenty of other suitors who were there, telling him that things were dicey,” assistant coach Lamont Paris told BadgerBlitz.com. “He stayed with us and continued to come down to games and be visible.”

A Mr. Basketball candidate in the state of Wisconsin, King is currently averaging over 21 points per game this season.

Class of 2018

Team: Whitnall (6-1)

When to see Herro: Dec. 29 vs. Kaukauna (7:30 PM)

The word: One of the top prospects in the 2018 class, Tyler Herro, who is currently averaging over 27 points per game, committed to head coach Greg Gard in September.

"Choosing Wisconsin was a no-brainer for me and my family," Herro told BadgerBlitz.com. "First off, playing in front of my family and friends in my home state is something that almost every kid grows up dreaming about.

"My family will be able to drive an hour and a half to my home games and wherever it may be in the Midwest we're playing."

The No. 66 ranked prospect in the junior class, Herro chose Wisconsin over offers from Arizona, Marquette, DePaul, Indiana, Florida and Xavier, among others. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound shooting guard received Gard's first scholarship when he took over as interim head coach of the Badgers in December of 2015.

"Coach Gard and the coaching staff made me a priority ever since Gardo got the job," Herro said. "I have beyond a good feeling that they believe in me as much as I believe in them.

"The support across the state that I already have is tremendous. Deciding early was never really on my mind but I always told myself whenever I felt like it was home, I'd commit and pull the trigger."

In the 2018 class, Wisconsin also has scholarships out to four-star forward Joey Hauser and three-star wing Isaiah Kelly.

Team: Milwaukee Riverside (2-2)

When to see Curtis: Dec. 27 vs. Arrowhead (7:30 PM) | Dec. 29 vs. Oshkosh North (6:00 PM)

The word: Point guard Carlos Curtis, who currently has offers from Green Bay and IUPUI, performed well at Wisconsin's advanced camp this past summer. But with Brad Davison arriving this summer and limited scholarships available in 2018, it would be tough for the Badgers to find room for Curtis.

Team: Homestead (4-1)

When to see Foster Jr: Dec. 27 vs. Milwaukee Marquette (9:00 PM) | Dec. 29 vs. Brookfield Central (4:30 PM)

The word: Wisconsin assistant coach Howard Moore watched Greg Foster Jr. a bit this past summer, but the Badgers are not heavily involved at this point in his recruitment. The son of current Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Greg Foster, Foster Jr. has early offers from Texas-El Paso and Wisconsin Green-Bay.

Team: Oshkosh North (5-0)

When to see Haliburton: Dec. 28 vs. Arrowhead (9:00 PM) | Dec. 29 vs. Milwaukee Riverside (6:00 PM)

The word: Tyrese Haliburton is on Wisconsin's radar but there are likely a number of prospects ahead of him. Green Bay, IUPUI, Milwaukee, Drake, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Toledo and Ohio have already offered.

Team: The Prairie School (5-0)

When to see Butler: Dec. 27 vs. Lourdes Academy (10:30 AM) | Dec. 29 vs. Kettle Moraine Lutheran (noon)

The word: The son of former UConn and NBA star Caron Butler, J.C. Butler has received preliminary interest from the Badgers. Milwaukee and Green Bay have already offered.

Class of 2019

Team: Greendale Martin Luther

When to see Jones: Dec. 27 vs. Living Word Lutheran (9:00 AM) | Dec. 29 vs. Brookfield Academy (9:00 AM)

The word: Former Whitefish Bay Dominican coach Paul Wollersheim has rejuvenated the Martin Luther program with a strong sophomore class headed by Xzavier Jones. According to Mark Miller, the Badgers have shown recent interest and assistant coach Howard Moore was at his game last week.

Class of 2020

Freshmen in the state are just a few months into their high school careers, but a few have generated some early interest. The most recognizable name for basketball fans is Alex Antetokounmpo (Whitefish Bay Dominican), a younger brother of Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Kobe King's teamamtes at La Crosse Central, twins Jonathan Davis and Jordan Davis, are worth watching, as well as Bloomer shooting guard Gabe Madsen, who recently went off four 50 points over Spooner. All three are expected to play with the Wisconsin Playground Warriors this spring and summer.
