MADISON, Wis. - The injury hits keep on coming for the Wisconsin Badgers this year, who announced on Monday that junior inside linebacker Jack Cichy will miss the rest of the season with a torn left pectoral injury.
Cichy was injured near the end of the first half of Wisconsin's 17-9 win over Iowa in Iowa City, but came back in to the game in the second half wearing a brace. It was clear Cichy wasn't comfortable wrapping up to tackle, though, so he came out of the game in the fourth quarter. Cichy said after the game that he expected to play this weekend against Nebraska, but further testing clearly played a role in revealing the extent of his injury.
Cichy is the third player the Badgers have lost to a season-ending injury, and their second on the defensive interior after fellow inside linebacker Chris Orr suffered a knee injury early on in UW's first game of the season against LSU.
Cichy leads the Badgers with 60 total tackles on the season, and is second on the team in tackles for loss behind T.J. Watt.
With Cichy out for the season the Badgers listed sophomore linebacker Ryan Connelly and junior Leon Jacobs as his primary replacements on this week's depth chart. Connelly has played in 20 games so far in his career with one start, and Jacobs moved back to linebacker earlier in the season after spending spring camp at full back.
