Tyler Herro already had college options from schools across the country, and his scholarship list would have no doubt expanded had the standout from Whitnall High School played out his junior season and final year of AAU basketball this upcoming spring and summer.
But the chance to be remembered in his home state – a point ingrained in Herro during an unofficial visit to Madison this past weekend – was enough for the four-star prospect to commit to the Badgers early in the process.
“Just about a week and a half ago, him and I had talked and I asked him what he thought about recruiting and he said he really wanted to look at this process further and that there were some schools that he still wanted to visit,” Whitnall head coach Steve Kujawa told BadgerBlitz.com Monday evening. “I said that was fine by me, but all of the sudden I get a text yesterday (Sunday) saying, ‘I want to go to Wisconsin.’
