Wisconsin offers four-star OL John Olmstead during visit

Junior offensive lineman John Olmstead walked onto Wisconsin's campus Wednesday morning with an impressive scholarship sheet that already included Ohio State, Nebraska, Penn State, UCLA and Virginia, among many others.

By Wednesday evening, the 6-foot-6, 285-pound tackle from St. Joseph's High School in New Jersey had an offer in hand the Badgers, an opportunity he spoke highly of.

"For an offensive lineman, there is no better feeling to get an offer from Wisconsin," Olmstead told BadgerBlitz.com.

While on campus, the four-star prospect, who has been in contact with assistant coach Mickey Turner, toured the facilities and received positive feedback from the coaching staff.

"We got to to see all of the facilities and where all the players work out and eat," Olmestead said. "We also got a tour of the town and saw all the sights, which was really nice. We got to go in the stadium, which was also really cool.

"My relationship with coach Turner is very good and it keeps building. The coaches at Wisconsin really liked me as a player and love how I play the game. But what they like about me the best is what type of person I am; they just love me as an all-around kid."

Olmstead, who will visit Notre Dame on Friday, said it's too early to talk about favorites in his recruitment.

"Too early for that right now," Olmestead said. "Right now, though, I'm hearing the most from Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Ohio state.

"With Wisconsin, just how everything involving football was right in the stadium and so close to each other really stood out to me."

In the 2019 class, Wisconsin has known offers out to projected offensive linemen Devontae Dobbs, Logan Brown, Nolan Rumler, Quinn Carroll, Bryce Benhart, and Tyler Endres, in addition to Olmstead.
