Wisconsin lands three-star wide receiver Nolan Groulx

Wisconsin extended a scholarship to 2018 wide receiver Nolan Groulx roughly 10 months ago.

This weekend during an unofficial visit, the Badgers landed a pledge from the 5-foot-11, 185-pound junior from Hough High School in North Carolina.

A three-star prospect, Groulx, who had 1,101 receiving yards and eight touchdowns as a junior, picked UW over offers from Duke, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and West Virginia, among others.

Prior to his visit this weekend, Groulx was most recently on campus this past summer.

"They are just telling me that they can really use me in their offense," Groulx told BadgerBlitz.com. "They are very interested and I'm looking for a place that is as interested in me as I am in them. I thought it was a great visit to see how interested they were. I really liked how they go after well-rounded athletes, both in the classroom and on the field. So that was their message and that's why they think I could be a great fit at Wisconsin.

"Coach (Paul) Chryst, he's definitely a laid-back head coach and that's great to see. He looks like he has everything together because everything is so organized at Wisconsin. I like him a lot, personally, and he told me his story. He grew up in Wisconsin and I could see him not leaving there, so that's another big thing for me."

Groulx, commit No. 7 for Wisconsin in the 2019 class, is the first projected receiver in a group that also includes offensive linemen Joe Tippmann and Logan Brown, quarterback Graham Mertz, running back Julius Davis, linebacker Leo Chenal and safety Bryson Shaw.
