Wisconsin finds its tailback for the 2017 class in Jonathan Taylor

Days after decommitting from Rutgers, Jonathan Taylor has found a new home.

The three-star running back from New Jersey pledged to Wisconsin on Tuesday, the school he visited officially the weekend of Oct. 14, his high school coach, Montrey Wright, confirmed with BadgerBlitz.com.

"Yes, Jonathan committed today," Wright told BadgerBlitz.com. "After the (official) visit, you kind of had a feel for how things were going to go."

A 5-foot-11, 211-pound senior from Salem High School, Taylor, who recorded a 4.42-second laser-timed 40-yard dash this summer, had been a member of the Scarlet Knights' 2017 class since early May. But on Oct. 29, he backed away from that commitment and is now pledge No. 14 for the Badgers in this cycle.

"He enjoyed the visit; got a chance to meet the coaches and got a feel for the program. I talked to him when he got back and Jonathan really enjoyed himself, " Wright told BadgerBlitz.com in a past interview. "He really enjoyed the game and getting to talk with Corey Clement and Ron Dayne, two running backs from New Jersey.

"I know he liked what Wisconsin had to offer."

Taylor, who is expected to be UW's only scholarship tailback in this class, will compete with Chris James, Taiwan Deal, Bradrick Shaw and Sam Brodner when he arrives on campus this summer.

"Jonathan is a runner that takes more than one guy to bring him down," Wright said. "He's also very fast and if he gets north and south, he's going to take it to the house. But he has no problem running someone over if that's what needs to happen. He's a hard-nosed runner and he's fast once he gets to the second level."
