Wisconsin enters the race for in-state OL Jack Plumb

Power 5 offers from Iowa, Arizona State and Minnesota have rolled in recently for Jack Plumb. But the game-changer may have just arrived.

Late Wednesday evening, the 6-foot-8, 240-pound in-state tight end/offensive tackle from Bay Port High School announced that Wisconsin extended a scholarship.

"It's feels great," Plumb told BadgerBlitz.com in a quick message. "I'm super pumped."

Many now expect Plumb, a multi-sport athlete, will commit to the Badgers, possibly before the close of the week. UW hosted him in mid-April for the second time this off-season.

"I was able to watch the offensive line and tight ends during practice and the types of drills they were doing," Plumb told BadgerBlitz.com in a previous interview. "I was impressed with their attention to detail and focus on technique during the drills. I also watched them scrimmage at the end of practice and it was fun to see them get after it - they had great intensity.

"I talked to coach Al Johnson, coach (Joe) Rudolph and coach (Mickey) Turner. I also talked to Cole Van Lanen after practice and he told me that this is the place to be and that there is nothing like playing for the Badgers."

Should Plumb become a member of Wisconsin's 2018 class, he would be the sixth in-state pledge along with Boyd Dietzen, CJ Goetz, Mason Platter, Trent Ingalls and Cormac Sampson. Plumb would also join three-star Michael Furtney as projected offensive linemen.

Plumb also has scholarships from Illinois State, New Mexico, Northern Illinois, South Dakota, Western Illinois and Wyoming.
