UW continues to stockpile speed with the addition of ATH Isaac Guerendo

When you have sub-4.4-second 4o-yard dash speed at your doorstep, you invite that guest into the party, regardless of room.

And that's exactly what Wisconsin did when Isaac Guerendo made the call to commit to the Badgers Saturday. A 6-foot-1, 185-pound projected athlete from Avon High School in Indiana, Guerendo became pledge No. 17 for UW in the 2018 class. He made that news public Thursday.

With three receivers - A.J. Abbott, Taj Mustapha and Aron Cruickshank - already committed in the current cycle, Guerendo, who chose Wisconsin over offers from Army, Ball State, Eastern Michigan and Air Force, is being recruited as an athlete by the coaching staff, according to a source. Like Cruickshank, Guerendo is also highly-regarded for his speed and both intend to run track in college.

Guerendo, who has been clocked as low as 10.68 seconds in the 100-meter dash and recorded a 4.38-second 40 at the Irish Invasion last month (the fastest time at the camp), took an unofficial visit to Madison two weeks ago.

"They made me feel at home and welcome, and it is an amazing campus," Guerendo told BadgerBlitz.com after his commitment. "Taking my commitment with limited spots, it made me feel great and wanted.

"I think they'll use me wherever speed is needed. It relieves a lot of pressure to have made my decision."

Guerendo, who caught 19 passes for just under 600 yards receiving and six touchdowns last fall, was recruited by assistant coach Bob Bostad.
