The 2018 recruiting class is a big opportunity for the Wisconsin coaching staff. The talent level inside the state is high - well over 20 prospects currently have a Division 1 offer - and the Badgers are riding the national momentum of an 11-3 season from a year ago.

Fourteen scholarship seniors are set to graduate at the end of 2017, so UW will be looking to add around 17-19 signees in this recruiting cycle.

Below is the second look (VERSION 1.0) at what the perfect class for Wisconsin could look like. A perfect class doesn't necessarily mean landing all the top players UW has offered. It is more realistic than that - it fills needs and gives fans the stars they so desperately want. This is the best case scenario with players the Badgers have a legitimate chance with.

Quarterback - 1

Quarterback has certainly been an interesting position this month. Wisconsin started May with a commitment from Ben Bryant, added Chase Wolf but then dropped Bryant this weekend. Right now, UW is still open to taking two quarterbacks but because of the scholarship crunch, we're predicting Wolf will be the lone scholarship signal caller in this class. Still a long way to go, though.

Running back - 1

You could certainly make a case here for Elijah Collins after the three-star back visited for Wisconsin's spring game. But momentum right now is trending towards Nakia Watson, who will be on campus June 9. Wisconsin covets his size and running style and it wouldn't be surprising to see the three-star back pop for the Badgers while in Madison.

Wide receivers - 2

Receiver is still a bit up in air but Jalen Nailor will be on campus this summer and Dallas Craddieth has UW in his top 12. Ted Gilmore continues to evaluate and offer receivers and new names are popping up each day.

Tight end - 1

Wisconsin would love to have either Jeremy Ruckert or George Takacs, but that just doesn't appear likely. Jaylan Franklin, who visited and was offered in April, is the next best option. At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, the three-star prospect projects to UW's H-back position.

Offensive linemen - 1 (plus a greyshirt)
