Ten thoughts on Wisconsin's 10 commitments in the 2021 class

With 10 commitments now secured in Wisconsin's 2021 class, which currently sits at No. 8 in the country, BadgerBlitz.com provided one thought on each member.

Note: Prospects are listed in the order of their commitment to UW.

1. This had to be one of the most uneventful recruitments that I can remember, and I'm sure that's exactly how the Badgers and Benzschawel family wanted it. JP Benzschawel, a projected tackle, was commit No. 1 for UW in the 2021 class. His older brothers, Beau Benzschawel and Luke Benzschawel, played for head coach Paul Chryst. Additionally, Scott Benzschawel, the father to all three, played at UW from 1983-87. Not much has changed since Benzschawel's commitment in February of 2019.

2. Obviously the question with Jackson Acker is where he winds up at Wisconsin, position-wise. The three-star prospect earned his offer at camp as a running back, and that was his listed position during UW's junior day on Feb. 1. But after Antwan Roberts' recent commitment, you have to think Acker finds a home at linebacker or even fullback at Wisconsin, though he may get a shot right away at tailback. Regardless, the Badgers felt Acker, who is also an elite track and field thrower, was an in-state kid they needed to have in 2021.

3. Michigan commit J.J. McCarthy was probably the top quarterback on Jon Budmayr's board in the 2021 class. But when the next wave of offers went out, Deacon Hill was part of a group that included Jake Rubley, Sawyer Robertson, Ty Thompson and Behren Morton. Thompson, a four-star prospect who eventually committed to Oregon, seemed be very high on the Badgers last spring and summer. But Budmayr allowed Hill to move at an accelerated pace, a sign of his confidence in the quarterback from California. There were also rumblings about the Badgers taking two scholarship signal callers in 2021, but that was quickly put to bed at the time of Hill's commitment.
