MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin point guard Kammron Taylor was named the Big Ten Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ended Sunday, Jan. 14. It's Taylor's first such honor of his career.
Taylor averaged 18.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in a pair of Badger victories last week. He scored a season-high 25 points and had five rebounds in a 72-69 victory over fifth-ranked Ohio State Tuesday. It was the 12th 20-plus point effort of his career. He added 12 points and four rebounds in a 56-50 win at Northwestern Saturday.
The Minneapolis, Minn., native leads Wisconsin and ranks sixth in the Big Ten with 16.7 points per game in conference play. He needs 17 points to become the 31st player in Badger history to score 1,000 career points.
Wisconsin (17-1, 3-0 Big Ten) upped its win streak to 13 games, its longest since 1941. The Badgers host Purdue Wednesday before traveling to Champaign, Ill., to face the Illini Saturday.
