"The family feel and the family atmosphere being so far away from home made Wisconsin the right place," Orr told BadgerBlitz.com. "The opportunity to come in and play early was also really important for me."
Orr, a 6-foot, 212-pound junior from Texas, received an offer from safeties coach Bill Busch in late May. He chose UW over scholarships from Nevada and North Texas, along with strong interest from Arkansas.
"Coach Busch and coach (Dave) Aranda were really pumped," Orr said. "They were giving me some big high-fives and everyone was hugging me. The other recruits there were also pumped. Austin Kafentzis, Kyle Penniston and Brandyn Lee all welcomed me to the family."
Orr, who is teammates at DeSoto with UW target Kevin Thomas, a three-star wide receiver, was able to tour the campus and check out Camp Randall, a stadium that certainly caught his attention.
"I would say the true size of the stadium really stood out," Orr said. "I knew that it was 85,000, but that's a huge stadium and it will be a great place to play. I'm just happy to get a chance to play at Wisconsin and I'm really excited."
Despite strong interest from the Razorbacks, as well as Missouri, Oklahoma State and Texas, Orr made it clear he's solid to Wisconsin.
"No visits coming up for me, I'm 100 percent committed to Wisconsin," Orr said. "I'm big on loyalty and I don't go back on my word. I'm 100 percent a Badger."
Orr is the son of nine-year NFL veteran tight end Terry Orr and the younger brother of current Baltimore Ravens linebacker Zach Orr. Nick Orr, his older brother, is also a true freshman defensive back at TCU.
Wisconsin now has three commitments from Texas, with Orr, Takadrae Williams and X'zavien Ausborne. Orr is also the second linebacker in the current class along with Nick Thomas, who committed on Thursday.
