Officials from Wisconsin and Notre Dame are expected to announce future games between the two programs Monday at the Under Armour Brand House in Chicago.
The announcement from athletic directors Barry Alvarez (UW) and Jack Swarbrick (Irish) will make contests at Lambeau Field in 2020 and Soldier Field in 2021 official for each program.
The two universities, separated by roughly a four-hour drive, have recruited many of the same prospects over the last handful of cycles. And despite Wisconsin holding a 119-41 record compared to Notre Dame's 94-58 mark since 2005, the Irish have had more success against the Badgers on the recruiting front.
With the much-anticipated series on the horizon - the Badgers and Irish have met 16 times, the most recent in 1964 at Camp Randall - BadgerBlitz.com takes a look back at some recruiting battles between the two programs.
Class of 2013
Malik Zaire, whose name resurfaced with Wisconsin this past spring as a graduate transfer, was high on the Badgers early in the recruiting process. At the time, he had a very strong relationship with UW offensive coordinator Paul Chryst.
"I wouldn't say the offer blew me away but I was very happy to hear them say I had a chance to play at Wisconsin," Zaire told BadgerBlitz.com. "Wisconsin is a big-time offer and I think Saturday's game proved that.
"I think Wisconsin's pro-style offense fits me very well and I can pass and run pretty well. When I met with coach (Bret) Bielema and coach Chryst before the game, those are some of the things they said they liked about me. I think those are the reasons they felt comfortable offering."
Zaire cut his list to Alabama, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin before he selected the Irish in March of 2012.
In the same class, UW was also heavily involved with linemen Mike McGlinchey, Colin McGovern, Hunter Bivin and Steve Elmer, all of whom signed with Notre Dame.
The Badgers did have a win in this cycle. Four-star Corey Clement took official visits to Wisconsin, Nebraska and Notre Dame before he committed to UW.
