Jan. 14 Wisconsin Recruiting Update

The Wisconsin coaching staff hit the road recruiting this week, and expects to be on the road until the entire recruiting class is filled. Here is a look at the latest developments:
- As many of you saw, linebacker Pagitte McGee from John Tyler High School in Texas committed to Oklahoma State this weekend. But don’t write him off completely. Sources close to McGee informed IW that after he made his official trip to Tulane this weekend, OSU was waiting for him back in Texas. They were there to speak to him in peson as he returned from his trip, and the coaches convinced him to commit. McGee might have been prodded into making a decision without fully thinking things out, and the door is not completely closed for Wisconsin.

- The Badgers are awaiting word from cornerback/safety Levonne Rowan from Erie, PA. Rowan told IW he will likely make his decision later this week, and it’s still between Wisconsin, Syracuse and Iowa.
- Things remain the same with Palm Beach wide receiver Brandon White. He is still considering Wisconsin and Iowa, and is likely to make his decision close to Signing Day.
- Don’t write off cornerback Jo Jo Walker from Carrollton, Texas. Walker visited Purdue last weekend and will make a trip to Ohio State. But the Buckeyes have already signed three cornerbacks, including two from the state of Ohio. And sources tell IW that Walker is still considering the Badgers.
- The Badgers are looking into the possibility of bringing in a junior college kicker. The advantages of landing an experienced, mature kicker are obvious. But academics are the biggest concern. We should have more on this in the next week or two.
- Finally, sources tell IW that Lamarr Watkins appears to be leaning towards keeping his commitment to Wisconsin. Once the disappointment of the Darrell Wilson situation set in, Watkins evaluated the situation further, and appears to be leaning towards heading to Madison regardless. We’ll have more on this story in the near future as well.
