Wisconsin had an impressive recruiting run in the month of June as it landed five three-star prospects in the 2018 class. And with a few days remaining before July 1, there's still a chance the Badgers could add one or even two more prospects to their current 15-man group.
But starting June 26 and running through July 9, the world of college football is in a dead period on the recruiting front. With a brief pause in the on-campus action, BadgerBlitz.com takes a look at five dead period questions and provides a prediction for each.
"During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period."
1. Can Iowa steal Jack Plumb from Wisconsin?
By all accounts, Jack Plumb's visit to Iowa this weekend went extremely well. And if history has taught us anything, it's that the school that gets the final visit before a decision is usually the favorite.
So can the Hawkeyes steal the projected offensive tackle from the Wisconsin?
"I’m going to go home and talk to my mom again, talk to my coach and make some pros and cons lists. That will help me decide," Plumb told Rivals.com. "I want to have a good relationship with the coaching staff and the players that I’ll be playing with. That’s really big for me. Then getting into my major, education and graduating. Also I want to go somewhere where we can some win some games, go to some bowl games and compete for a national championship.
"I want to decide some time before my senior season starts for football. It will probably be in July."
Prediction: I think Iowa proved to be a legit threat, but Plumb will commit to Wisconsin before there close of the dead period. UW has a strong relationship with Bay Port High School and Plumb will join Michael Furtney as projected offensive linemen for UW in this class.
