CJ Goetz doesn't waste any time in becoming No. 4 for UW in 2018

Less than 24 hours after picking up an offer from Wisconsin, CJ Goetz added his name to the Badgers' 2018 commit list.

A 6-foot-5, 230-pound in-state linebacker from Waukesha Catholic Memorial High School, Goetz was on campus and received an offer Sunday during unofficial visit. He pledged to UW Monday morning.

An all-state performer who helped the Crusaders to a WIAA Division 3 state title this past fall, Goetz is commit No. 4 for Wisconsin in 2018. He joins a group that previously included projected safeties Trent Ingalls and Reggie Pearson, as well as quarterback Ben Bryant.

The Badgers feel Goetz, who had 103 tackles and six sacks in 2016, could play either linebacker spot in Jim Leonhard 3-4 scheme.

"Coach Chryst said he loves my film and told me that I was a great fit for the program and that he would love to have me a part of it," Goetz told BadgerBlitz.com on Sunday. "They like me as a hybrid linebacker who can play both inside and outside."

Goetz chose UW over offers from Bowling Green, Illinois State, New Mexico, North Dakota State and Northern Illinois, with strong interest coming from Iowa, Iowa State, Michigan State and Northwestern, among others.
