Big Ten releases 2014 schedule

MADISON - The Wisconsin Badgers will play Big Ten newcomers Maryland and Rutgers in 2014 in back-to-back weeks, according to a release from the conference. The Badgers will host the Terrapins on Oct. 25 in Madison before travelling to High Point Solutions Stadium the following week to play the Scarlet Knights on Nov. 1.

The Badgers also released their projected 2014 schedule that includes their scheduled non-conference games. The Badgers are also scheduled to play FCS Western Illinois on Sept. 6, Bowling Green on Sept. 20, and South Florida on Sept. 27.
That leaves the Badgers with two open dates during the season for their 12th game of the season. The Badgers are rumored to be negotiating to play Louisiana State to open the season at a neutral site, but no deal with the Tigers has been announced yet.
The Badgers will open the Big Ten season with a road trip to Evanston, Ill., to play Northwestern on Oct. 4, and will host their Big Ten home opener against Illinois a week later on Oct. 11. Wisconsin's schedule also includes a trip to Purdue on Nov. 8, a home game with Nebraska on Nov. 15, and a road trip to Iowa on Nov. 22. The Badgers will conclude their regular season with their traditional rivalry game against Minnesota on Nov. 29.
The Big Ten's reshuffle means the Badgers will have to play Iowa in Iowa City in back-to-back seasons, because they will take a trip to Kinnick Stadium on Nov. 2 of this year. The Badgers will play the same Big Ten opponents during the 2015 season, but the Big Ten doesn't expect to release their 2015 schedule for a few more weeks.
