A 6-foot-1, 190-pound senior from Oakwood (GA) West Hall, Lotti emerged from a national pool of campers throughout the month of June. He caught the attention of staff member and former UW kicker Taylor Mehlhaff, along with special teams coordinator Chris Haering, who extended an offer earlier this week.
"Honestly, I just had a good feeling about Wisconsin," Lotti told BadgerBlitz.com. "When I was there I loved the campus and everything was great. I called coach Haering today to commit and he seemed like he was more excited than I was. It was a great feeling."
A first-team all-state selection, Lotti averaged 45.2 yards per punt with a long of 72 as a junior. The two-star prospect will be in line to take over for Drew Meyer, who is entering his final season at UW. Redshirt freshman P.J. Rosowski is the only other punter on UW's current roster.
"The goal is to play right away," Lotti said. "I plan to come in right away and compete for that starting job."
Lotti chose UW over offers from Air Force and Boston College and strong interest from Georgia, amongst other schools. He is the 14th known commitment for Wisconsin in the current cycle.
"It feels amazing to get my decision taken care of," Lotti said. "It was a busy and stressful summer, but now it feels great to be Badger."
