Estes another strong piece on OL

An already strong offensive line class for Wisconsin added another key piece Friday evening.

Led by defensive line coach Chad Kauha'aha'a, the Badgers landed a commitment from three-star Kevin Estes, who could be the final member of a unit that already included Jon Dietzen, David Moorman and Sam Madden.

"Wisconsin is one of the best academic colleges in the nation and its football program is constantly in the top 25," Estes told BadgerBlitz.com. "It's also known as 'linemen U' and I wanted to be a part of that."

Estes, a 6-foot-6, 273-pound senior from San Marcos, Calif., chose UW over offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Duke, Cal and Oregon State, among others. He is the 19th known member of Wisconsin's 2015 class and said the decision ultimately came down to Wisconsin, BYU, Duke and Arizona.

"The coaches said they were all fired up when I committed and I was on top of their board since the beginning," Estes said. "They were happy to have me part of the family. They said I was the most athletic tackle in the nation, which is why I was so high on the board.

"It feels great to finally commit and to be able to enjoy my senior year without any stress. I'm 100 percent committed."

After being offered this spring, Estes is also the third UW commit from California in this cycle, joining tight end Kyle Penniston and wide receiver Brandyn Lee.

"I've talked to a few of the Wisconsin commits already, mainly Kyle Penniston," he said.

The Badgers likely still have room for offensive lineman Semisi Uluave, who plans to take an official visit to Madison this fall.

From Rivals.com West Coast Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney:

"What stands out most about Estes is that he's extremely physical and dominates against most defensive linemen who try to come right at him. Some exceptionally athletic defensive ends might be able to get the edge, but at the UCLA camp, Estes had no problems staying with everyone during one-on-one drills. At 6-foot-6 and 273 pounds, he has excellent size and looked more physical than most linemen at the camp."
