Handful of 'top' lists include Wisconsin

Prospects on Wisconsin's recruiting board are trimming their list of potential schools from 10 to five and even down to two. BadgerBlitz.com catches you up on all the latest with projections and insight.

Prospect: Three-star running back Ty'Son Williams

Location: Sumter (SC) Crestwood

Top 4: Wisconsin, South Carolina, Notre Dame, North Carolina

Wisconsin's perspective: Wisconsin would love add Williams to its 2015 class and position coach Thomas Brown has been in consistent contact. The three-star prospect would like to make his decision before the start of his senior season.

School to beat: South Carolina

Prospect: Three-star running back Devine Ozigbo

Location: Sachse (TX)

Top 8: Boise State, Boston College, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin

Wisconsin's perspective: Ozigbo plans to make his decision on July 22 and has yet to visit Wisconsin. Davon Crookshank is a more realistic and possibly preferred option from Texas at tailback.

School(s) to beat: Iowa, Iowa State

Prospect: Three-star wide receiver Shaquery Wilson

Location: Coral Gables (FL)

Wisconsin's perspective: Wisconsin appears to be looking for another wide receiver to pair with Andrew James and Brandyn Lee. Wilson, who picked up a recent offer, probably ranks just below Aramis Alexander on the staff's pecking order.

Top 5: Georgia, Wisconsin, Arkansas, Virginia, West Virginia

School to beat: Georgia

Prospect: Three-star wide receiver Felton Davis

Location: Highland Springs (VA)

Top 10: Louisville, Miami, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Wisconsin

Wisconsin's perspective: Another receiver Wisconsin is very high on, Davis could take an official visit to Madison this fall. West Virginia and Virginia Tech, however, are established leaders at this point.

School(s) to beat: West Virginia, Virginia Tech

Prospect: Three-star wide receiver Kevin Thomas

Location: DeSoto (TX)

Top 6: Clemson, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska, San Diego State, Wisconsin

Wisconsin's perspective: The Badgers have already secured a commitment from Thomas' prep teammate, linebacker Chris Orr. If there's room later in the process, Thomas is a solid option for Wisconsin.

School(s) to beat: Clemson, Nebraska

Prospect: Three-star offensive lineman Semisi Uluave

Location: Honolulu (HI) Punahou

Top 5: UCLA, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, Oregon

Wisconsin's perspective: Wisconsin is looking for one more offensive lineman to add to its 2015 class and Uluave ranks pretty high along with Kevin Estes. The three-star prospect is expected to take an official visit to Madison this fall and will likely be hosted by fellow Hawaii native Micah Kapoi, who is gearing up for his first fall camp.

School(s) to beat: UCLA, Oregon, Vanderbilt

Prospect: Three-star defensive end Rahn Bailey

Location: League City (TX) Clear Falls

Top 2: Wisconsin, Wake Forest

Wisconsin's perspective: If Wisconsin wants Bailey, who visited unofficially in June, in late summer or early fall, there's a good chance he winds up a Badger. But the staff still has some big targets remaining at outside linebacker/defensive end who likely grade out higher in comparison.

School to beat: Wake Forest

Prospect: Three-star defensive end Gus Cumberlander

Location: Ellenwood (GA) Cedar Grove

Top 5: Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Oregon, Virginia, Wisconsin

Wisconsin's perspective: At 6-foot-6 and 238 pounds, Cumberlander is a perfect fit for what Wisconsin wants at the position and a nice compliment to David Pfaff, a more stout end who is already committed to UW. Two (Oregon and Virginia) of the five schools in Cumberlander's top five have yet to offer and the Badgers have a great chance to secure another prospect from Georgia.

School(s) to beat: Georgia Tech, Wisconsin

Prospect: Three-star defensive end/outside linebacker Brandon Wilson

Location: Winter Garden (FL) West Orange

Top 5: Wisconsin, Georgia, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Memphis

Wisconsin's perspective: Wilson currently lists Wisconsin as his favorite and will take an official visit this fall. It's likely the staff will be able to wrap up his recruitment if he's still a take while on campus.

School to beat: Wisconsin

Prospect: Four-star linebacker Jahvoni Simmons

Location: Virginia Beach (VA) Ocean Lakes

Top 10: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami, N.C. State, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin

Wisconsin's perspective: The No. 4 inside linebacker in the nation has Wisconsin in his top 10 with Chris Beatty leading the charge for the Badgers. Getting him on campus for an official visit would be another big victory for the staff.

School to beat: Virginia

Prospect: Three-star linebacker Dominic Sheppard

Location: Miami (FL) Gulliver Prep

Top 8: (in order) Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Stanford, Alabama, Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, Clemson

Wisconsin's perspective: Sheppard has Wisconsin out in front and already has an official visit in place with teammate Antonyo Sotolongo. He's a take at linebacker regardless of numbers and would be a big addition to this class.

School(s) to beat: Wisconsin, Miami

Prospect: Four-star outside linebacker Osa Masina

Location: Salt Lake City (UT) Brighton

Top 5: UCLA, Arizona State, USC, Michigan, Wisconsin

Wisconsin's perspective: Masina already took an unofficial visit to Wisconsin and will be back on campus this fall. In a bit of a surprise, Utah wasn't included on his updated list and the staff has to like where they sit heading into the fall.

School to beat: UCLA

Prospect: Three-star defensive lineman Joshua Alabi

Location: Detroit (MI) Cass Tech

Top 5: Michigan State, Miami, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Ohio State

Wisconsin's perspective: Alabi is probably Wisconsin's top remaining defensive line recruit. The three-star standout already visited unofficially twice with teammate Mike Weber and is expected back on campus this fall for an official. Alabi has a strong relationship with Jeff Genyk, but getting him out of Michigan will be a tall task.

School to beat: Michigan State

Prospect: Three-star cornerback Ronnie Hoggins

Location: Coconut Creek (FL) Monarch

Top 3: Wisconsin, Louisville, TCU

Wisconsin's perspective: Hoggins was one of Wisconsin's first offers in the 2015 class and still remains a big target in this cycle. A few other cornerbacks, however, may have surpassed him on UW's board with Isaac James now atop the list. If there is still a need, expect the staff to turn up the heat on Hoggins this fall.

School to beat: Louisville

Prospect: Three-star cornerback T.J. Griffin

Location: Virginia Beach (VA) Ocean Lakes

Top 3: Wake Forest, Duke, Wisconsin

Wisconsin's perspective: Griffin and Hoggins are in a similar situation - both grade out high but one spot at cornerback likely remains in this class with Takadrae Williams and Xzavien Ausborne already committed.

School to beat: Duke

Prospect: Three-star wide receiver Gary Jennings

Location: Stafford (VA) Colonial Forge

Top 5: Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Virginia, Boston College, Wisconsin

Wisconsin's perspective: Jennings is one of a handful of receivers Wisconsin is still in the mix for. He's yet to visit and there's a good chance the three-star prospect stays closer to home.

School to beat: Vanderbilt

Prospect: Two-star cornerback Chuck Davis

Location: Ashburn (VA) Broad Run

Top 2: Wisconsin, Indiana

Wisconsin's perspective: Davis has Indiana out in front but is still very interested in the Badgers and would like to visit this summer. If they like him at corner, however, Davis probably isn't in UW's top tier.

School to beat: Indiana

Prospect: Three-star cornerback Khalid McGee

Location: Miami (FL) Northwestern

Top 3: Wisconsin, Louisville, West Virginia

Wisconsin's perspective: Another corner on Wisconsin's board, McGee is bunched in with the other prospects on this list.

School to beat: West Virginia

Prospect: Three-star athlete Jonathan Crawford

Location: Largo (FL)

Top 10: East Carolina, Indiana, Iowa, Louisville, Minnesota, N.C. State, Syracuse, UCF, Wake Forest, Wisconsin

Wisconsin's perspective: Though it's not a huge need, the Badgers don't have a safety in the 2015 class and Crawford is an interesting option. He'll likely wait until after the season to make a final decision.

School to beat: Louisville
