Busch lands Texas defensive back

Wisconsin assistant coach Bill Busch has given the Badgers a strong recruiting presence in a short amount of time in the Dallas area.

Friday, Busch's hard work paid off as he landed Takadrae Williams, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound cornerback from Dallas (TX) South Oak Cliff.

"From day one, it was all coach Busch," Emmett Jones, the head coach at South Oak Cliff, told BadgerBlitz.com. "They were consistent in pursuing him (Williams) and our kids have a great relationship with him and they really just hit it off right away -- an instant connection. We're going to try and get him out to Wisconsin to visit this summer."

Head coach Gary Andersen has Wisconsin back in the Lone Star State with a number of offers going out this spring. According to Jones, Busch is doing an excellent job on the recruiting front.

"They're doing a great job and we like what Wisconsin is doing," Jones said. "They're putting in a lot of hard work because they are not only hitting our school hard, they are working a lot of the Texas area. And again, that's coach Busch. We talk all the time. He likes our kids and they feel the same way about him. Wisconsin is trying to put their flag in the state of Texas and they're doing a good job."

Williams, a two-star prospect, chose UW over offers from Louisville and Colorado State. He is the seventh known commit and first defensive back in Wisconsin's 2015 class.

"Louisville and Colorado State were there, but from the beginning he loved Wisconsin," Jones said. "After meeting coach Busch and talking with him over the phone, he was all the way Wisconsin. It would have been extremely hard for any other team to come on and steal him away."

Jones feels Wisconsin is getting a cornerback who is still a bit raw, but possess ideal size and speed at the position.

"Long, rangy, talented track athlete who comes from a long line of talented athletes," Jones said. "Still kind of growing and learning the cornerback position, but he's a totally different player from last season up until now. He's also a guy who's going to go in there and compete. Those long cornerbacks at 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, they give offensive coordinators some problems.

"Takadrae is a talented guy and a great kid. Great attitude and great character. He (Busch) said he really liked how he can flip his hips at that size."

Busch has also put the Badgers is an excellent position to land Williams' prep teammate, fellow defensive back X'zaviaen Ausborne.

"He (Ausborne) likes Wisconsin a lot and him and Takadrae are great friends," Jones said. "He could commit and that wouldn't be surprising. I'm just waiting for a call from him."
