BREAKING: QB commits to UW

Austin Kafentzis had seen enough after working out for Wisconsin offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig late Tuesday morning. The 6-foot-1 quarterback committed to the Badgers after talking with head coach Gary Andersen and Ludwig during Wisconsin's high school camp.

Kafentzis' father Kyle confirmed Austin's commitment, and said the 2015 quarterback will not take any more visits during his recruitment. Kafentzis is the first prospect to commit to Andersen for Wisconsin's 2015 signing class.

Kyle Kafentzis said he and Austin wanted to get a feel for how Ludwig would work with the 2015 standout, and with the commitment coming today it's safe to assume the Kafentzis' liked what Wisconsin's offensive coordinator had to say.

Kafentzis was named Utah's Mr. Football for the second year in a row following his 2012 season. Kafentzis amassed more than 4,500 yards of total offense in his sophomore season, and threw 32 touchdowns as a sophomore.

The Kafentzis family has known Andersen for several years, dating back to when Kafentzis' father Kyle coached some of Andersen's sons in high school.

The pair visited Wisconsin's spring game in late April of this year, and decided to make a return trip soon after. Kafentzis also visited Boise State, but a source said the Broncos didn't match the impression the Badgers made during their spring game.

Kafentzis is also scheduled to graduate from high school a semester early, which will make him eligible to join the Badgers for their spring camp in 2015. Kafentzis also held offers from BYU, Utah, and Utah State before ultimately settling on the Badgers.

Kafentzis has not yet been ranked by Rivals.com, but the 2015 prospect could end up as a four-star player when the rankings are released.

Either way, Kafentzis' dual-threat abilities seem to make him a good fit for Andersen's new regime in Madison.
